I don't live in Cali but if you do, you should go! :-)
Sorry it took me so long to post about this concert because it was definitely an kick ass show! The Hard Rock poolside was a wild place, let me tell you. When I got there, you would not have believed the pleathera of tanned, hard bodies of both genders. "My Oh My,"........it was craaaaazy!
Anyway, I was LUCKY enough to meet up with a couple of awesome girls, who got me in early out by the pool, (where the show was held) They went to a lot of trouble to make sure I was able to join them and I will be forever thankful! I got to the hotel around 4:45pm and after the security guard let me thru, I headed staright for the rail. At this point, (and for quite some time after) there were only 3 of us out there. The opening band's manager took a liking to the girls and said we could all stay put as they kicked everyone....and I do mean everyone else out of the pool area, while they readied it for the concert. Only the security guards were left. Word got around that it was ok for us to be there, so they all left us alone.
I had missed POM's sound check, but was able to watch deepfield. That was cool! Then finally, we were asked to go back to the door and wait 30 minutes for the scanners to arrive so they could scan our tickets. We obliged and luckily they still let us 3 back in about 30 minutes before anyone else. We got a drink and settled in for a freakin wild time.
The crowd started pouring in, and we held our positions on the tiny rail. We were so close to the stage...I knew we were in for a wonderful experience. Deepfield came out and rocked us first. I really like these guys. I had only seen them once before when they opened for POM last November in AZ. By the time they were through, we started getting REALLY excited. We so anticipating Puddle of Mudd's arrival
They played the regular setlist, (we requested Radiate, but I guess it just isn't meant to be yet) and we sang our hearts out along with them. What a GREAT show!!! During the last song before the encore, something quite annoying happened..... some a**hole threw a beer can up on stage. It nearly beaned Wes, but did manage to get him a little wet. I would have liked to pummel whoever did it, but for some unknown reason, the crowd was so jammed in there that no one ended up being accountable...Grrrr. Wes took it pretty good, and even made a little joke at the beginning of the next song when he came back. His second line of the song was something about not throwing things at him anymore...lol. Forgot, that a somewhat embarrasing thing happened to Wes twice during a couple songs. His mic went out. I think it kept coming unplugged. But Wes is such a trouper, he wasn't flustered by it and made jokes about it afterward. When he asked if we wanted him to repeat the song, that's when we yelled "Play Radiate!"
On a lighter note....I must tell you something about this show that was so memorable to me. I debated posting about it cuz it feels so personal, but it's just too sweet not to mention. We noticed that The Missus and Jordan were with there with Wes as he cruized around before the show. Now, I myself had not seen either of them before, but when the show started Jordan got up on stage and sat down beside a speaker. He has to be the cutest little boy ever! It was absolutely the sweetest thing to watch Jordan watch his dad sing. He would also sing along a little at times. I don't know why, but I had to keep glancing over at him from time to time. It was something about the way that Jordan was looking so admiringly at his dad. I don't think he took his eyes off him once. That was cool! I wish I could have bottled it an saved it for Wes. Little moments in time........
So obviously, all good things come to an end, and so did this show. I will be having withdrawls for a while, but knowing that the Mudd Men will be off making the troops overseas happy, makes it easier to get through. My hat is off to the guys, for this unselfish act they are getting ready to undertake, (again, for Wes and Doug). I'm sure there's some trepidation about it, but they must have put it aside. POM....you guys rock!!
Seems like there are a lot of spaces available in the summer, maybe even around the time they are in West Virginia. They have played almost every state it seems like, except Delaware. Grand Opera House in Wilmington would be a good spot. There are also plenty of places in Dewey Beach, DE!!!
The guys really put it all out there in Knoxville 4/21. It was a great crowd of people and we all knew every word to every song. I think Wes was glad to see such true fans rocking & singing along with them til 11:30 on a Monday night. The Valarium has excellent sound system & lighting. A great place to see any show! My ears were ringing the next day! GREAT, GREAT SHOW!!!!
I would have to say that Puddle of Mudd was the best @ edgefest 17 in my perspective....they were AWESOME just like they always are! after they played....i got to meet the band and wes was the first one signing and i put my puddle of mudd shirt down for him to sign and i said that they were the reason i came to edgefest and wes stood up and raised is hand and said "high five" i was star struck :) so of course i gave him a high five......and then i asked him if my friend could take our picture.......and he said of course.....that made my day!!!!!! Anyway i cant wait for them to come back.
Puddle of Mudd played a GREAT set at Buzzfest this past Saturday. During Blurry, I looked back, and everyone had thier arms in the air - everyone! If you're interested, I got some pics and video from the show - ENJOY! http://www.bradberryman.com/concert_20080426_Buzzfest_Seether.htm
Puddle of Mudd was awsome in Richmond at the 2008 Chili Cookoff. We had backstage passes and got to watch the show from stage left...lots of great pics and even got to talk to Wes for a few minutes before the show.
It's long and it won't paste right in one post here. If you are interested you can read it on my MySpace blog. You don't have to be a registered member to read.
